Famous Last Words
You have to look at what you have right in front of you, at what it could be, and stop measuring it against what you’ve lost.
Jonathan Tropper, This is Where I Leave You (via simply-quotes)

Practicing My Purpose
Sometimes I wonder what in my life decided my personality. Do you think if I’d grown up around different people, or gone to different schools, or had different genes, I’d be different?
You’ve heard of culture shock, yes? When somebody gets to a place that’s unfamiliar to them and suddenly they can’t communicate. They’re misunderstood accidentally and life becomes a long montage of muddled activities during which the person feels lost and confused. I think maybe I wasn’t made for the place I’m in right now. I’m not really sure how one goes about finding the place one was intended for, except through trial and error, but I know that this experiment on my part seems to be an error.
Therefore, I’m offering an apology. To everyone who has mistaken my sarcasm for meanness, to everyone who has mistaken my meanness for sarcasm for that matter, to everyone who’s ever been hurt or upset by something I said which I promise was not meant to hurt or upset you. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - this is something I believe in, and if I’ve treated anyone with disrespect, I’m sorry.
Until I find the place I’m supposed to be though, I’m here. The new day dawns, and I am practicing my purpose once again. It is fresh and it is fruitful if I win, but if I lose…I don’t know. I’ll be tired but I will turn and I will go. Only guessing till I get there, then I’ll know. All the children walking home past the factories can see the light that’s shining in my window as I write this song to you. All the cars runnin fast along the interstate can feel the love that radiates, illuminating what I know is true. All will be well, even after all the promises you’ve broken to yourself. All will be well - you can as me how but only time will tell.
The winter’s cold but the snow still lightly settles on the trees and a mess is still a moment I can seize until I know that all will be well. Even though sometimes this is hard to tell and the fight is just as frustrating as hell, all will be well.
Keep it up and don’t give up and chase your dreams and you will find all in time.
All will be well. Even after all the promises you’ve broken to yourself, all will be well. You can ask me how, but only time will tell.
A word after a word after a word is power.
